Dog Thoughts To Live By

If a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy..
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

Have a great day!

Pretty Things

Does anyone besides me feel ready to go to bed at 9:00 P.M? Geeez, I don't know if it's age, or just the fact that it's been a busy weekend around here?

Next weekend is Halloween and I am really looking forward to being around and greeting the masses of hobgoblins and Tinkerbells that will knock at the door. Of course it's not the same, now that our girls aren't around...but Mr Fufu and I will enjoy it.
After next weekend we are going to start to get really busy around here. We will be traveling to see our girls and also antique show season starts down here in the South~yay!!!!

I probably won't get to do much blogging this week, as I need to catch up on packing and shipping, organizing the studio some more and I have a massive amount of Holiday items to finish for the website as well.
Sooooo.....with the help of this random number generator, the winner of the little Cherub Band Aid Tin is # 9, which is Debbie G. Please send me your mailing address sweet Debbie through the Contact Us page of the website at Shabbyfufu and I will send along your gift, filled with some goodies!!

Random Number Generator

The randomly picked number is: 9

Speaking of the website, I listed some new items today, and will finish up I REALLY am ready for bed!

I completed and photographed THREE Romantic Dressforms that I had been working on for awhile, and I am pleased with the way that they turned out. They were extremely time consuming as I hand dyed and painted much of the fabric and ribbon and there is just a lot of work in these. Of all the items that I create for the website, the dress forms are my passion! I am sorta known for this ORIGINAL concept by now, and thanks to you ladies who have been so supportive over the years in purchasing them for your homes:-).

One of these is a Child sized if you have a young fufu girl in mind, take a looky here! Flexible layaway is always available on these type of items, I am happy to help you to afford to purchase what you might want over time:-).

You can click on any of these photos to go right to the item and take a peekaroo!

Something else from the Shabbyfufu Studio....these covered jars with French fashion, silk ribbon and rhinestones. There are only a couple of them left!

Speaking of French inspired~we have been working with a SwEeT artist for awhile now who is making some jewelry that is exclusive to Shabbyfufu....and she did several Marie Antoinette pendant necklaces for us, and some other pieces as well.

My dear friend and website artist Farnaz Farzad, keeps a'paintin' more and more of these covered they keep selling out. She is the most amazing porcelain painter...I so admire her roses!

Will be finishing up listings tomorrow with some more pretty things in the Sweet Embellishment Boutique, including some darling appliques, faux cupcakes and treats.....and more.

Until then.......nitey nite and have a great week ahead!

Sweet Inspiration Project & A Little GIVEAWAY At Shabbyfufu

Inbetween organizing my new Studio space I have been working on some things, both for the Holiday Season and other requested Shabbyfufu items:-). It won't be long until....................

I know that many of my readers enjoy repurposing ordinary objects into little treasures that are useful, so I thought that I would share a sweet project for you to try. If you are always looking for containers to stash petite bits and pieces and have an old (or new) tin band aid container lying about....they make for nice storage for buttons, jewelry findings and little "what nots". Here are the basic supplies that I gathered together:

Nothin' too fancy.... formerly mentioned band aid container, a hammer and Phillips Head screwdriver or an awl, primer paint, pink acrylic paint, foam brush, glue gun, sealer, a few bits of ribbon, millinery and perhaps a vintage button, and.................a pretty Cherub Applique. I am going to have some wonderful appliques listed on SHABBYFUFU later on this week when MANY new items are to be posted~so I hope that you can check in:-).

First, take your screwdriver and hammer down through the top of the band aid tin to make two holes, evenly spaced. These are for your ribbon to be tied through, so that you can hang this little container in your studio, kitchen or bathroom for out of the way storage.

Then prime the outside of the container. I taped a piece of masking tape under the lid to cover the holes first, since I decided to use spray primer which was quicker.

Next paint the container any color of choice.....PINK was mine:-). I decided to give it a bit of a distressed look, and gave it a second coat of pink paint, then wiped a bit of white gesso over the container by hand.
Allow to dry and hot glue on the applique. Seal when completely dry with some spray sealant.

Tie ribbon of your choosing through the holes at the top that you have made, going from outside to in....and then tie a knot to secure. Glue on a vintage button, more ribbon, millinery...or any other fufu adornments. Here is my finished little piece, which really is cuter in the photo is WAY larger than life (forgot to change the camera settings:-). Of course this project can be made in an unlimited manner of ways...this is just to inspire.

Would you like to have this container? Just leave a comment, I will draw a name in the next few days with my next Blog Post. I will fill it with GOODIES for you:-). Until then I will be a busy bee working on far too many projects and living life!

Lots of love and inspiration to anyone who stops by for a read,

Fall Is Spring

We seem to do many things in reverse order from the rest of the country here in South Florida, as our weather is literally the polar opposite from what you may be experiencing in other climes. There FINALLY is a touch of Fall in our moisture laden air, and it's time to do a massive "Spring Cleaning" job around the Fufu homestead and studio. I cannot wait to have days in the not too far off future to be able to turn off the a/c and open the windows to the sound of happy birds looking to add new occupants to the nest! Needing to have access to said windows, a mass organization is necessary first.

What to do with a Bazillion Boxes?

Piles O' Papers?

Masses O' Millinery?

Loads O' Linens?

Wads O' Wallpaper?

Volumes O' Vintage?

Plethora O' Prom Gowns?

All of this and trying to work on the website with lots of pretty things coming. will definitely take a week, perhaps a lifetime to organize this stuff!

Here's to a great week to you~Happy Fall Ya'll

Watch What Happened

Boo's a sad day as my favorite TV show, Project Runway ended last night. I know that I am not alone in hoping that at the last minute Bravo TV can pull off a miracle and keep what is their most popular show from being sold to the sappy Lifetime Network. Personally I don't care for much of what is on Lifetime, but I do love Bravo's lineup.
I was always a happy artist when Project Runway marathons were on for the day, as I worked away in my studio with lots of inspiration chattering away from the telly in the corner of my eye. Sorta happy that Leanne I am a fan of her use of pleats in construction and her final collection with it's aqua and white colorway.

I was secretly cheering for Kenly Collins, although the ultimate sarastic girl. Her fashions are girly girl and filled with imagination and her personal "flower in the hair at all times" look is so darned cute.

Speaking of flowers....these were just posted on the website this morning.

End of story ~ have a fabulous day!

Sunny SoBe

Dear friends.....I hope that you are enjoying the weekend! Thanks for the emails and comments about our little fur guy Murphy, who is doing much better after his surgery and back to his constant begging for food!

Mr. Fufu and I took some time off from our busy bee lives to relax today and hopped on over to beautiful South Beach (SoBe), here in Miami. It only took us about 25 minutes to get down there on a Sunday morning, but during the week would be about a one hour drive with traffic.....ughhh! Slow going....and yet it's not even tourist season here yet, too darned HOT.

Miami is a big city, and until the recent bust in the real estate market the high rise construction was becoming almost out of hand. It's slowed down considerably now, and if one is so inclined you can most likely get a bargain on a high end condo.

The drive over the MacArthur Causeway is just jaw dropping, especially when the cruise ships are in port~as they usually are on Sundays. On one side you see these spectacular man made cities of ships, and on the other side of the causeway are the yachts and homes of the rich and famous. Hard to get any photos on that side, as we were moving too fast.

We arrived at Lincoln Road and parked, and Mr. Fufu was a very happy camper...once he saw this Red Ferrari. Car of his dreams......dream on dear!

The antique shows are starting their season down in the deep South here shortly and this is the first show of the circuit on Miami Beach's Lincoln Road.

A stunning setting for an antique show with the palm trees, foliage and incredibly blue skies. I love my hometown of Miami:-).

There weren't very many vendors, but I did manage to acquire some wonderful rhinestone buttons for several of my projects in the works.

Lovely buildings, fountains with sea inspired very Miami.

Lots of great designer shopping and some open early to accomadate the antique show crowd. I have been a huge fan of Jonathan Adler's pottery for a long time, and this renowned chocolate shop as well.

We had brunch at one of the many dog friendly outdoor cafes. Great food and interesting people watching.

Back here in suburbia, I have been in the studio this afternoon working on some new designs for the website. The buttons that I picked up at the antique show today were just what I need for the finishing touch on the barkcloth roses brooches that I have enjoyed working on. These will be great embellishments for your jackets, purses, look for them to be posted this week on Shabbyfufu.

Talk soon, love to all~
XOXO, Janet

Happy Weekend

It's Friday and will be a working weekend around here! I thought that I would post a copy of the Newsletter that I sent out today. I try and only send out one Newsletter a month to the customers, as I know that I am not a huge fan of receiving too many myself from the businesses that I subscribe to. If you have nothing to say....then say nothing I think:-).

This little dude went in for surgery to remove a golf ball sized tumor on his sweet belly today. It seemed to come out of nowhere, and grew so fast. We are soooo grateful that the Vet said it is benign and won't need to be sent in for a biopsy. It will be hard to keep him quiet for the next 10 days until the stitches are out! We sure love our fur baby.....kissies are welcome if you want to blow some his way:-)

Here is the Newsletter....I think that part of it is going to be cut off, but not sure how to fix it in Blogger?
