The Original Shabbyfufu Blue Mason Jar Chandelier

Almost every new visitor to my home for the last couple of years comes into the kitchen and comments with something like….”haven’t I seen that chandelier before?”

Yep…the Mason Jar chandelier that we put together about 2 1/2 years ago and has been featured in so many magazine articles that it’s well….”notorious”. This is an update of a previous post.

Since then I’ve made many and sold them by the score and it’s always a fun, creative and most importantly Original project. Our pieces have gone into homes around the world…including one created for a descendent of the Mason jar company founder.

A quick background story on the concept…

My husband came home with the chandelier body that was found outside in the trash where it had been for a number of years. It had naturally developed the gorgeous patina that you see. He told me right off the bat that it was too rusted to take apart and rewire, so that I needed to figure out something else to do with it or (heaven forbid) toss it!

I love aqua as an accent to our mostly white home, and was thinking of a way to bring out the aqua patina of age on the brass with using some glass votives…
Looking around my studio stash the vintage Mason jars seemed to be the perfect solution…and we found a way to make it work…

It’s a “candelier”…

I hand colored the crystals and used salvaged long French drops purchased on a long ago trip to a brocante in France. They were saved for a special piece…

Special it is…hanging in our white kitchen for just the right accent of color and romantic light…

UPDATE…We no longer make these for sale.

Do you ever light the candles? Are they easily switched out or do they make a mess in the mason jar?
