Tattered French Treasures and Favorite Junk

Over the last few years I have greatly thinned out my personal stash of tattered treasures and in general as I get older prefer less clutter. Truth be told though, there are those pieces that I do love enough to hang on to and collectibles that if I see when out and about at a great price….I may still grab for the prop closet and display.

These.

I was out on Saturday visiting mom, and stopped at a little cottage antique shop along the way home that happened to be open (never usually is!). They are closing their doors later this month and had a few bargains to be found, but these old syphons were the only ones that caught my eye and we affordable. Of course I already have some but could not resist….and you know how I love aqua!
This tattered plate I had spotted in a brocante shop the last time that I was over in France was charming to me because of the old staple repair.

At only 5 Euros it was coming home to the U.S. with me…but packed in a suitcase it sadly broke. I still believed in it’s beauty and glued it together and now I find it even more lovely.

And at holiday time I love to use it to pile on natural elements that muffle the cracks and are accented by the rich blues.

And then there are these tole rose candle holders, that I found awhile ago covered in white wax and in my design eye are perfectly imperfect.

And lastly, a large and tall pair of vintage plaster columns that are missing pieces, have cracks and yet wonderful for giving lots of varying height to a room’s vignettes.

Have a wonderful week and watch for more posts coming this week.

  1. Love your treasures. The older I get the more selective I am. I can't take everything I like home, in hopes of making it work. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  2. I am like you…I hang on and on…love the idea of the cracked plate for a base. My bff would die for those spritzer bottles

  3. I just love those siphon bottles in all shades of aqua…so pretty!
