My One Word...Strive

Happy New Year everyone! Wishing you a wonderful, happy and healthy 2014 going forward from up here at my beach home...

You've probably seen this all over social media, but many are choosing one word to focus on for the year and to make changes based on that word...rather than a litany of resolutions that can sometimes overwhelm. My chosen word is "strive". Strive to be the best ME that I can be and only compete within myself to do so in every aspect of daily living...

It's often easy when you are on social media to look at others and their lives and accomplishments...photos of their spectacular homes, gorgeous families, beautiful vacations, perfect friends.....and get caught up in that. I do not and will not, although I do enjoy seeing and knowing....I tend to go my own way and follow my own path. "Strive"....to be the best ME that I can....
I have felt from a very young age that we all have a purpose when put on this planet and without getting too deep here...that my purpose is bringing beauty. Creating with eyes wide open and self focused on seeing something beautiful in each and every day, and sharing...
Strive...to capture beauty in my life, home, world...and bring it out in the open through the eyes of the camera...
My next blog post will be my 500th! I'll be doing a lovely GIVEAWAY, so please check back...
xoxo,
Janet

Happy New Year to you Janet!... I have so enjoyed being friends over these past over five years... I met you even before I had a blog, but ordered from your website and always read your posts... you are an inspiration to me!... I love your word for the new year... and I do believe you have already been doing that all these years!... you are truly one of a kind, and I hope I am as well... like you, I love to visit the homes and such on blogs, but I kind of dance to a different drum... my own... my word for the new year is "Serenity"... I take a daily serenity walk, in addition to our Nature walk and of course Tessy walks!... and I think if one has serenity in their lives, everything else must be exactly the way it is meant to be... much love to you... kiss those pups for me!... xoxo Julie Marie

Hi Janet, wish you a very happy New Year!
I´ve been following your blog for awhile and I can assure you that you do not only capture and bring Beauty for yourself -in your life, home, etc.- but you certainly inspire many others to do the same... and if we work altogether, we may indeed create a very much more beautiful world, don´t you think?
I really loved your word for this year; btw, mine is RISK... (and only I know how challenging can it be!)
Warmest hugs,
K.

To quote your words. . ."It's often easy when you are on social media to look at others and their lives and accomplishments...photos of their spectacular homes, gorgeous families, beautiful vacations, perfect friends.....and get caught up in that. I do not and will not..." Thank you for stating this fact! It is reassuring to me to know that I am not the only person that feels this way. Sometimes as I participate in social media from the sidelines, I feel as though it is a contest of sorts to see who is the "best" at whatever or who has the "best life"and I find it exhausting, to say the least. I refuse to compete with anyone other than myself, to be the best person that I can possibly be, to constantly challenge MYSELF. I commend you on choosing STRIVE as your word, to wanting only to improve and to please yourself first. I think you have brought beauty and much inspiration through your lens and your blog to so many more than you realize. And I thank you for your contribution and stating how you feel so simply!
