Outside The Container…Floral Arranging

This past week I’ve been enjoying bold pops of color with the florals that I picked up at the market that add nice contrast to the white walls and pale furniture. They surely look gorgeous in an old ironstone pitcher, but today I’ll share a few other ways.

that are perhaps a bit less conventional or downright avant garde.

I often use wine bottles in interesting shapes or with lovely labels for a simple single sprig. This vodka bottle from a friend is perfect sitting in front of an old chippy blue door…

While shopping at HomeGoods this past week I picked up a few pretty tins of tea from their gourmet foods section. This one had such a feminine print that I knew it would be pretty for floral display!
To avoid rust in a tin container you can use a glass insert to fill with water and place inside. This is a small tin so I used a shot glass which was the perfect fit.

Buckets from Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture with wildflowers from our gardens on the dining table.

A plain white arrangement that my daughter put together in a vintage McCoy pottery pitcher sits on a wicker desk in the living room.
And you know that I love vintage millinery and great quality faux silk flowers. This hatbox overflowing with florals adds color and romantic charm as a temporary display element on a table or shelf. If you have a small collection of millinery and want to try this, roll up some newspaper to fill the container almost to the top and then place the millinery over to cover.
Think outside the box or container for new ways to display flowers and I hope that you have a creative week ahead!
