Fall Decorating Inspiration…Easy French Elegant Style…And A Secret!

fall decorating inspiration - fall visions in a white living room with rich gold accents

As you know I’ve been organizing my studio and it’s gotten my inspiration going to work on shifting things around the rest of the house. It’s almost Fall, but here in South Florida we have to dream of harvest celebrations, falling leaves and cooler temps…as it’s summer pretty much year round!

Today I’m sharing my early Fall motivation is to put away the aquas and blush pinks, and bring out a bit of elegant sparkle…with a few tips to share on putting…
this sort of easy look together…

fall decorating inspiration - living room accented with a fresh green centerpiece and neutral color scheme

Although this may look expensive, I have carefully curated collections over a long time. Much of what I have in these living room shots was free. Yes, FREE…eyes wide open on roadsides, trash piles and giveaway stuff! It takes time and definitely has evolved over time with a hefty dose of patience at play…

fall decorating inspiration - gold and brown decoration on a white mantel

The mantel I purchased years ago at a garage sale, and the homeowners were remodeling…so it cost me next to nothing for it. I added the laurel wreath applique and painted that white to match the white chippy paint.

On top of the mantel I displayed a couple of recent free pieces…the copper pot filled with dried hydrangeas from last year and some pussy willow. A favorite beaded dome light gives that glitz, and a trio of frames that I just found in my storage shed even things out and bring in more texture.

I’m all about the texture in a mostly white room!

fall decorating inspiration - gold white china is perfect for the fall season

The china cabinet was given to me by a fellow antique dealer friend in a swap out situation years back. It holds family china that is perfect for Autumn with it’s simple sepia rose motif and gilt gold…

fall decorating inspiration - faux flower arrangements last all season and are perfect to add pops of color

The big olive bucket is filled with a secret!

I am a believer in using faux florals when I have nothing fresh on hand. This week I do not…so my “go to fauxs” fill it nicely and are of a great quality…found at a garage sale for a few bucks. If you are going to use faux florals, I recommend spending the extra money for the best quality (rather than the craft store) and no one will be able to tell. Wait…you’ll find them at a yard sale for sure!…

fall decorating inspiration - vintage and salvaged pieces make up this beautiful fall living room

The table is a marriage…both pieces are salvage and put together. A stunning marble slab that someone was tossing to the curb sits on a wrought iron rusty iron garden table base found at a thrift store…in their trash due to rust…

Toss aways are often the best, and some other pieces that are now treasures to me are the French country gates, the white shutters and the Florentine tables…

For extra shine, I love to hang chandeliers where they can reflect into mirrors and the look of two is intentional here…

  5. Lovely, chic, and so autumnal, Janet! The addition of that bling always makes me smile and sigh! 🙂 It's still pretty summery here in MI. Warm, humid, and stormy afternoons. Almost tropical. lol
