Early Autumn Master Mantel

Last weekend I gave myself a chance to play with styling and shooting some simple Fall vignettes. Flowers really enhance a home and can be a budget friendly way to segue from.

one seasonal look to the next.

When I set off to the grocery store I knew that I wanted to use this vintage copper pot to hold some tall blooms in front of the mantel in the master bedroom.
Something simple like this can be pretty dramatic and the pink flower heads of the gladiolus provide that pink pop that I envisioned.

I set two quart sized Mason jars inside the copper pot and filled them with ice water and the florals to protect the pot and my wood flooring…

My fireplace festooning started with a large antique frame painted in white. I find that empty frames are wonderful for “framing out” a vignette.

The pink dahlias were set into an old ironstone coffee pot as well as one from our inherited family set of Royal Copenhagen that comes out for Autumnal use. You’ll probably be seeing a lot of that on my blog this season:-)).

antique pink french books

Antique pink French books with a handmade tattered rose plopped on…given to me by a friend. The dried florals are from last Fall and have held their color beautifully by being tucked away, far from any source of light. I do not use silica gel with my dried florals and find that if kept in a box they hold up well for several years.

A previous post that I shared shows how to make a gorgeous Autumn wreath with dried florals, and you can find that HERE

Earthy and easy, soft tones of pinks and browns evoke Autumn warmth and are inspiring me to use more of these tones seasonally.

vintage painted candelabra

Have I told you how much I love this candelabra and how many colors it’s been over the years? It was most recently AQUA and you can see that HERE. Now it’s all coppery, bronzey and has a great patina of age with some spray paint and a light dusting of gold glitter.

In trying new techniques sometimes you can inspire yourself, as I did with the painting on the candelabra! I’m going to attempt a chandelier soon with these hues.
