Early Fall Vignettes In The Dining Room At Shabbyfufu…Styling Tips
Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year and has been for as long as I can remember. As a young child living up north I recall skipping to school through the crisp leaves on the ground and all of the delicious scents and colors. I have lived in Florida most of my life since then and we just don’t have that here. Alas…I create an Autumn atmosphere in our home and will be sharing a few of my…
…early Autumn vignettes that I set up this weekend in the dining room…
I started by clearing out everything that was displayed on the buffet (aka repurposed $25 vintage dresser:-) and putting it all in the cabinets in the laundry room. I’ve been organizing around the house and feeling pretty good about all that I’ve donated and sold.
Styling tips for a fresh look:
First…clear it all out down to the furniture. Yep…just as if you are moving!
Then move furniture as necessary and add in design elements as you like.
Be sure to step back to take a good look at the scene!
Wait a day or so and start removing what maybe makes it look like a store or an antique mall. I’ll be taking a few things away from this vignette! Remember, less is always more and you’ll notice the details with that in mind…
Going through my linens I found a set of ruffled chair slips that I completely forgot that I made a few years back for my old dining chairs. Oh happy day!
I’m certain that once the pumpkins are available in the markets things will change again, but for now I have some wheat (that I saved from last year:-) up on the table…
The feeling is cozy and a bit organic I think with nature’s Fall colors and textures…
Old tin, French wicker demijohns, ironstone platters, wood cutting boards, an old wood bowl and florals (of course:-) both real and faux…
The light was perfect on the day that I shot these photos…
A little touch of glitz adds elegance to the rustic feel, and my glam downfall has always been vintage lighting with loads of crystals…
Mercury glass candle holders hold elegantly swirled dinner candles. It’s the little things that really stand out…
The Fall sign was made very quickly and I’ll share a quick DIY with you soon…
Velvet pumpkins are everywhere nowadays and I picked this trio up very affordably this week at HomeGoods…
Sweet Sweater Pumpkins from my friend Deb Kennedy that sit in an antique sterling silver repousse bowl. You can find the tutorial to make those on her blog HERE

Everything looks so beautiful! A gorgeous take on Fall!
Janet, your work is beautiful! I'm a long time follower of your web site and love your style! How do I match the right off white paint color for my furniture without my white wall paint making it look to yellow or dingy?
Everything looks so nice Janet!
It will be summer weather here for another month so no fall decor here. But, I love what you have done.
Everything looks so beautiful!
Your Fall decor is really lovely! The sign is really neat with the moss. I'm a huge fan of pumpkins, especially velvet ones. And I love the dried wheat. Linking through SSS!
