Spring Living Room Styling

I know that some of you are still freezing up north, but I do hope that you had a great weekend. Spring is on the way!

My husband and I have been slowly doing some Spring cleaning around the house (like pressure cleaning…ugh!) and I’ve been working on some styling in the living room…
My color accent of choice for Spring is aqua…what a surprise:~))

Playing around with the mantel after adding a faded teal pillow to the tufted sofa…

In the last few years I have taken all artwork down from the walls and prefer to just prop them. I’ve been considering doing that with the mirror over the mantel as well. What it reflects isn’t great…track lights in the front entry that need replacing (hellooo honey:~)) and a ceiling fan smack dab in the center of the living room.
Ceiling fans are a necessary evil living here in South Florida and I’d truthfully substitute each with a glittery old French chandelier if I had my way (which I don’t)…

Pretty propped painting…

Vintage French syphons and although you might not think “living room”, I just love the color pop that they provide with the light pouring into this room during the day…

My weekly flowers from the market this morning included a full fluffy batch of creamy hydrangeas…

Another quick version of styling this mantel for Spring with an old window in place of the painting. Which would you leave up…I can’t decide and would love to know your thoughts?

And yes…I am in love with dainty wax flowers and was thrilled to find some in the palest blush pink this week! Did you know that if you pinch the heads of wax flowers they give off the scent of lemon?
In LOVE…with wax flowers…

I’ve been asked how I afford fresh flowers each week, and honestly I look for what is the lowest priced bunch and in season. They just add so much when you are doing a pared down look and in this room I spent just $9 for the florals seen…

Do you notice a few new updates to the layout of the blog?
I’ll be back soon with a fashion post, so stay tuned for something so pretty!..

  1. Beautiful, Janet! We are still freezing up in MA!

  2. Beautiful! Love the window on the mantelet, it doesn't block the light reflected by the mirror. Thanks for adding me to your blog mailing list. I use to buy from you on ebay and I have missed your beautiful style!

Very pretty and fresh! Loving that Spring is starting to pop her head out!

  4. I love your Instagram widget! I've never seen a moving one before. Love your aqua touches! I've been adding some blues and aquas also (inspired by my beautiful beach glass throw!). I love fresh flowers but they're so expensive! I've found an area in Publix where they separate the old bouquets and sell them for $3.99 a bunch so that's usually where I head:)

Simply lovely. I can't wait for it to look more like Spring around here. It's hard what with over 7' of snow! Your touches of aqua are so pretty! My spring color will be pink…..I can't wait!

  6. Janet, where do you find wax flowers. Are they faux or actually real that have been waxed over. I would love to get some but have no idea where to look. Can you please help me out?

  7. I think the window is good for now and the rose picture for summer when roses are in bloom. We have a chandelier fan in white in our living room. We put up a medium size ceiling medallion and found the fan online and it is nice. The motor part has some scroll decoration.

I love both looks, but the painting is so sweet and pastel. I vote for the painting. 🙂

    Blessings

  9. Your living room looks amazing and always looks as though it's just been Spring cleaned….l like the window best, it looks wonderful alongside the syphons.

    Oh it looks such beautiful!
    Really comfy and peaceful 🙂

    Lovely greets, Claudia
Visit me on my little Blog if You like 🙂

  11. My vote is for the painting. It's a lovely subject and the background brings out the aqua in the other things you have in the room.

You mentioned your ceiling fans. I am from the south so I know they are much needed. If you really like the look of a chandelier, they do make nice looking ceiling fans these days with rose detailing and a chandelier on the bottom of the fan. I bought two of them from Lamps Plus a few years ago and highly recommend them if you ever need to update your fans. The ones I got look like they would work well with your decor as well.

  12. Beautiful – all of it!! I live in the Southwest, we've not really had a winter, it's been so Spring like.

  13. P.S. I love both looks and love it when you switch things out!…Always looks so fresh!…and I find the flower prices in Florida really great…Had sticker shock when I moved away!

  14. Lately I am in love with old window frames but either way it is beautiful. As always, love your creativity and style 🙂

    1. Hi Selah! I love them too and just parted with a big stack of old windows because I can’t keep them all. Hope you’re having an awesome week!
