5 Ways To Bring Coastal Decor To Your Home

Hi everyone…I’m off to the beach house today and wanted to just share some of my ideas for bringing some of that beach look into your home if you live, say….in Alaska! Or maybe on a farm? Or in the big city?
So here are a few of my favorite tips…
Seashells…
Seems so simple, but there are such a large variety of things that you can do with shells! It’s so easy to do and I gave a little DIY on how I generally glue shells on to decorative objects HERE
I always feel that there is power in numbers and prefer to see items grouped in vignettes. Or…make a garland…
Bling…
Just add a few crystals that you’ve painted with food coloring mixed with Mod Podge and you’re good to go with the bling factor…
Paint…
Once again…at the risk of being overly obvious, I use paint as an accent…and keep the walls white. I gave a pair of vintage French nightstands a hint of aqua and created some over the bed wall art in a guest room by painting a sea fan with a pale robin’s egg blue and framed it…
Architectural elements…
Look for cool architectural elements that have colors of the sea at flea markets or on-line at places like eBay. I found these corbels and for now they are just being displayed, but maybe some day I’ll use them to make a table or kitchen island…
Glass…
Beach colored glass. I LOVE glass and think that a bowl full of old (or new) glass fishing floats go a long way to bring that beachy color and feel to a table…
For more ideas and some places where you can find coastal pieces that speak to my aesthetic, you are cordially invited to visit my new blog over on eBay!
I’ll be back next week joining in with a fabulous group of bloggers from the bHome app for a whole bunch of Summer Home Tours and Open Houses. Enjoy your summer weekend…
