The Home and Studio Of French Artist Laurence Amelie

Today I'm taking you with me into the home and studio of a friend that you might have heard of if you are a fan of shabby chic, the amazingly talented artist Laurence Amelie in France...

The artist at work adding some extra touches that her eye noticed were needed..

Paintings in various stages of completion in her light filled studio...

Laurence is a lovely and private person, and in keeping with that my words will be few, but glimpses abundant...

She is known for her most original tutu paintings that many emulate but truly cannot duplicate with her uniquely layered style...

It was so interesting seeing the process as she explained it to me...

There she is hiding from my camera in the doorway:~)...

My husband's favorite, the oversized black and white with subtle colors of green in progress...

The chairs painted by Laurence in chalk paint, from a special tucked away brocante that we love to visit...

Her studio floor, a work of art unto itself...

We spent the afternoon chatting in her stunning centuries old stone home. The painting over the sofa is by Ubaldo, a talented painter that is outgoing and animated. A juxtaposition of styles and personalities that make for a perfect match...

 In the kitchen...

Simple French farmhouse style that is elegant in that simplicity...

A trio of chandeliers hangs over the table...

Simple entertaining...

Garden florals and Laurence loves to mix them in with faux as well...

Looking outside to the gardens from Laurence and Ubaldo's country home. Spring florals were not yet at their peak and it was still a bit cold...

Darling Miu~Miu...who is recuperating from some surgeries. I apologize for the blur on some of the photos but the light was challenging in parts of the old stone home and my shoot was informal...
