Wicker Love and A Floral Peony Wreath Project

This floral peony wreath was made with some fresh peony flowers, an old white-washed wicker basket, and some hot glue! Such a simple project.
Talking two of my favorite things today…flowers and wicker, specifically wicker baskets. I have a lot of vintage wicker around here with everything from furniture to baskets and trays! I love using my baskets as I feel that wicker and rattan give an airy, summery look and mix in with everything fancy as well…

My DIY floral peony wreath - made with a soft grey wicker tray, pastel pink and white peony flowers and a beautiful soft robin's egg blue ribbon.
For this “wreath” that is so summery and soft, I got out the hot glue gun and carefully selected some of my prettiest dried florals. Just a small amount of hot glue was necessary to glue the flowers to the tray, and should I even change my mind they should be easy enough to remove…
After snipping off some ribbon, I created a lush ribbon hanging and bow. Again just a small amount of glue was used…

So when you see a great piece of wicker while out shopping the fleas, home stores or your own home…just think of all of the possibilities and ways to give wicker the love that it deserves!

    I have never seen a basket used as a wreath–how unique!!!

    1. I don’t think you can grow peonies in South Florida so do you buy them in the grocery store or at a florist? If you have a secret for growing them in the tropical heat please share. I have always wanted peonies and can’t even grow them in South Carolina.

      1. I get mine from either Trader Joes when available or a florist. They do not grow in the heat down south unfortunately Cathy
