Wicker Love and A Floral Peony Wreath Project

Talking two of my favorite things today...flowers and wicker, specifically wicker baskets. I have a lot of vintage wicker around here with everything from furniture to baskets and trays! I love using my baskets as I feel that wicker and rattan give an airy, summery look and mix in with everything fancy as well...
I recently purchased this huge woven basket from HomeGoods and have used it in photoshoots, taken it to the beach and it's perfect by the pool for fresh towels to use after swimming...
Woven baskets like this one will dry quickly outside in the sun if they get wet...
This is a vintage wicker basket that has special meaning to me, as it was my mother~in~laws and I think that she used it for wine bottles:~)...

I use it for storing and displaying dried florals, in this case hydrangeas on the mantel...

A few weeks ago I purchased a set of 3 wicker trays from Decor Steals. They are graduated in size and while I like the natural brown finish I decided that I'd give them a heavy wash of grey Annie Sloan Chalk paint to coordinate better with my French country/ shabby chic/ coastal decor...

Two of the trays will be used for serving and the smallest was used in a project that I'd be thinking about for awhile now...

So...my supplies were gathered. Peonies that I have been drying and some Tiffany blue silk ribbon that I found on my recent trip to France at a brocante market...

If you know me...I have always loved the mix of pale pink and blue, and that I love to create with flowers of all kinds! I recently shared how to make a chandelier with flowers HERE and dried blooms could certainly be used on that project as well...

Another wreath project that I had shared on the blog with a DIY is this one, again using dried flowers...

For this "wreath" that is so summery and soft, I got out the hot glue gun and carefully selected some of my prettiest dried florals. Just a small amount of hot glue was necessary to glue the flowers to the tray, and should I even change my mind they should be easy enough to remove...

After snipping off some ribbon, I created a lush ribbon hanging and bow. Again just a small amount of glue was used...

So when you see a great piece of wicker while out shopping the fleas, home stores or your own home...just think of all of the possibilities and ways to give wicker the love that it deserves!
