Pretty Pillows and A Giveaway and a Mirror DIY

french living room with delphinium

As an artisan and designer I have always embraced color and lately have been all over the color map in my posts! It always goes back to my basic interior aesthetic based around white and neutral furniture and walls. A late summer look here at the house with...

...accents of blue. No surprise there really as a long time lover of the blues in the Crayola box of 64's, the blues of the sea and sky and my husbands' blue eyes:~).

And with the blue pots that I was fortunate to acquire as freebies and talked about HERE filled with the incredible blues of delphinium and a pair of new muted blue velvet pillows from World Market I'm all set.

french chair with ticking stripe pillow

I made a ticking pillow awhile ago from some great indoor/outdoor fabric that I found as a remnant one day over at Calico Corners and trimmed it in more weather resistant fabric with ruffles. Sometimes this one is outside on the patio, but for now it sits on one of the antique French bergere chairs...

pretty fabric swatches

When I was in London a couple of months ago I purchased these fabrics and have been debating on either sewing up pillows or who knows what! They too were on sale, with the fabric on the left from my visit to Cabbages and Roses and the one on the right from my visit to Shabby Chic Couture...

I blogged about both of those shops and highlighted the names with the link if you'd like to see more...

blue and white on mantel

Three simple vintage jardinerières and a French platter with a story told HERE and the bottom plates stood on end for interest...

As time goes on the delphinium is fading to a lavender color and I'm going to try my hand at drying them for display or a future project...

The platter is absolutely fab. One can spend an hour gazing and fantasizing about its history. I have several old planters with such "personality", two were wedding gifts of my grandmother in 1910. One has a similar crack. The other has faded roses and scratches and my memories of it being used by my grandmother and my aunt. Thank you for sharing.. Your blog is one that I read first. Again, Thank you! Phyllis

As always, your photos are so lush and inviting, creating a feeling of luxe pampering and ambiance.

BUT - I had no idea you could do that to plain glass to make a mirror! And your technique to make it look like old mirror is too clever by half!

I love blogs that not only are a treat for the eye and soul - but give a little insight into how to bring those looks into my own home!

Can you tell I'm a HUGE fan?!

Thank you for sharing yourself and your loves with us. It's nice to see some of our dreams come true, even if it's in your home, not ours. And helps us "see" how to put things together in our homes. Thanks again, Germaine
