The Beauty Of Copper For Elegant Fall Results

fall entertaining outdoors with copper accents

I’m thrilled to be participating in this year’s round of blogging home tours and although it’s still stifling summer here in South Florida have slowly been transitioning and changing it up…

My home tour and lifestyle in general is probably not the norm when you think of fall, as we don’t experience that season here. At all.

I have to admit to missing the change in the air and the leaf drop that I recall from my northeastern days as a kid, but I have lived down here most of my life and am more than used to it now. We create our own Autumn and spend as much time outdoors as possible on any cooler day that might be tossed our way. Those are few and far between, and the pool is still warm enough for swimming.

Copper adds that touch of fall for me and for this lunch for four that I wanted to make special I added a vintage copper pot filled with apricot roses. The roses are a color that I might not normally use the rest of the year but with copper and the vintage gold flatware I love the way that they look!

To make a centerpiece like this I soaked some floral foam in water, stripped all leaves and any thorns off the roses, and clipped them short with the roses in the center taller than the rest. They will last for a long time this way if you keep the floral foam wet and there is no damage to the pot.

This part of our patio is under cover so it makes for the perfect spot to sit in the shade and should it rain we stay dry. The table and chairs were brought outside from the dining area, since it’s just a stone’s throw away from the inside…

The Limoges plates and ruffled placemats give the tablescape that feminine touch that I love.

Another vintage piece of copper, this one set up with flowers (of course:~) on the dining room buffet. As the season moves on I’ll be sharing more of the dining room for fall in future posts with styling tips and vignette ideas.
If you haven’t seen the recent post with the gorgeous velvet pumpkins, find that one HERE.

Those apricot roses from my fall lunch by the pool were just too gorgeous to toss and deserve a special place to hang around for awhile! They are drying so nicely on my bedroom mantel in a late summer/early fall vignette.

I tied them up with ribbon and tucked the ends into this old tulip crate that I painted and repurposed.

You just might see a white pumpkin or two mixed in. Faux of course, since as I mentioned the real ones are not yet available here.

These colors remind me of a golden fall sunset and the ocean with it’s gentle aqua hue. Perfectly fall in Florida.

I suspect our climates are similar Janet, as we don't experience the change of seasons either. Your apricot roses are so perfect for pairing up with the copper and the warm autumn tones do reflect a lovely feel of fall.
