Building A Farmhouse Table and Magnolia Homes

farmhouse furniture

I don’t live in a farmhouse and in truth I don’t think that there are many to be found around where I live. That doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy farmhouse style and shows like Fixer Upper {mildly obsessed}. While at High Point Market recently I stopped by the Magnolia Home showroom to ohhh and ahhh. The style of Joanna Gaines…
is warm and welcoming, but with rules in place not allowing press inside the showroom the only photos that I captured in my rush were peeking in. So putting my rebel spirit aside I stalked for a bit…

Do you remember the books on the wall in one of the shows? How cute is that for a child’s room or playroom! Lots of rustic woods with a reclaimed look and I adore how this table is softened with those scalloped edges that Joanna’s carpenter Clint said that he wasn’t a fan of making…

Manly leathers and rich tones are mixed with neutral colors on the soft goods…

Button tufting on the sofa’s seats rather than on the back is something out of the ordinary and I find so appealing!

Farmhouse style and Joanna Gaines style is definitely “a thing” and is having it’s big day, or year…or several. Do you think that it’s here to stay?
french farmhouse table
I prefer the softer side as you probably know and more of a French farmhouse approach. The table in this shot was taken at a friend’s home last year in the countryside of France and has a weathered gray finish. Farmhouse…yes, but in a more feminine less obvious way that is so easy to mix and match. More about this house HERE

Another more weathered French farmhouse table that I talked about HERE and is authentically made of century old reclaimed wood…

We’ve built a few tables over the years, or I should say that my husband built and I did the finishing on them. He’s so great with power tools and my strengths lie in painting, so we just go with that:~}

  1. I think it's here to stay! At least at my house. Honestly, I think it's the rebirth – refreshed version of country from year ago with less dried flowers 😉

  2. I love Joanna's style. To me it is Traditional with a touch of Contemporary. Maybe they should just call it Traditional Contemporary.

    I do like Joanna's style but I also like the other styles you show. Maybe that's my problem, I love it all!

    I love farmhouse style and I absolutely adore Joanna, but I do think like any trend (especially one that is so hot), it will pass. I am a little more traditional than her, and like you, I like to mix styles. That way, if one goes out of style, I can just remove some elements of the room rather than re-doing the whole house!

    Your style is gorgeous Janet – I love your softer version of French Country. You have a great eye.

  5. Loving the farmhouse style. Although I do agree, the romantic side really appeals to me too, I do lend more toward the industrial sometimes. It just depends on my mood. 😉

    Hate to be the bearer of bad news but your link above doesn't work *Love this trestle style table that is on sale through the weekend at 30% Off!". It gave me an 404 error.
