Transition To Spring With Blue

I hope that you had a great weekend! In my little corner of the universe the weather has been spectacular and we are truly grateful. My family surprised me with a visit home from our daughter who lives in Texas {hard to pull a fast one on me, but they did:-}} so we spent most of our time hanging around right here…around the pool.

It’s sort of spa~like by design and we don’t use the pool often enough unless we have company or the young adult kiddos around. So happy to have my girlie here for a couple of days, since I haven’t seen her since the holidays:~}}

Which brings me to blue…as in the color of our pool and the sky for this amazing weekend here in Miami. I have always loved blue and one of the things that I love most about it is the ease of mixing in various shades from navy {thinking chinoiserie, blue ticking, indigo dyes} right alongside aquamarine tones of a coastal sea.

Recently I found a few things at Kirkland’s to add to the house to bring in the blues for spring and summer that will be here before we know it… I’ve incorporated them in to my French style living room and YES…you CAN mix French style with coastal style and YES, I do it all by having that WHITE base that will accept ANY color and ANY accent effortlessly!

I scored big time at the local florist with a sale on hydrangeas by the stem, lisianthus and larkspur. What a color pop it made in this gorgeous ombre vase with a secret!
That would be that it’s not really a vase, but a lantern and I have a big time crush on glass. Especially when it’s blue glass!

The vintage glass syphons {seltzer bottles} are all from Europe and I’ve collected them over time for the color. They serve no purpose other than being decorative with the tops being wedged and shut tight.

The beaded dome is not a bowl, rather an old light fixture that I have turned upside~down. Maybe it’s a bit early for thinking of seashells but I love the beach so much and love to have them around to remind me of my peaceful place. I filled the dome with a selection and mixed a few pieces of some found beach glass for color…

More of the same with shell on shell here on the bench. Have you ever filled a shell with shells? If you don’t have a large clamshell like mine you can find shell bowls around in most stores. On the tufted sofa behind I tossed a throw {threw a throw?}} in AQUA and a few pillows from Kirkland’s in that color range.

Shopping the house the old benches came out of hiding from the garage and made their summer appearance in the living room once again.

A few accessories like the vases and the modern gold orb just do it for me and I think add just the right touch.

  2. So beautiful, Janet. I say shells are fine all year round especially where you live. How nice to use the pool. It was down right cold here. 80 in February and 55 in April. Go figure.

  4. This is exactly what I'm doing here at my house. I've never used blue before..well not since 1990 or so. I'm loving every bit of it. 🙂
