Color and Light at Maison Objet Miami 2016
I had the chance this past week to pop over to the Maison Objet show in Miami Beach, which is basically in my own back yard via Uber…about an hour away. It’s kind of ironic because as someone who loves design I’ve really been meaning
to attend this show in Paris for years, but I’ve never been there at the right time. Last year was the first for the show in Miami and wouldn’t you just know it…I was IN PARIS at the time and missed it here {first world problems:~}}
Timing is everything and I’m happy to report to you on my visit and share from my perspective…
Color…
If you aren’t from here you might envision a world filled with flamingo pink, mojito green and crisp coral as in the fabulous mood board of fabrics put together for the Thibaut booth above. I absolutely ADORE Thibaut fabrics and wallcovering and truth be told it IS perfect for Miami and for anyone looking for color and that hip, chic Miami~esque feel…
Light…
Anyone in need of a feather lamp?
There were many varied styles of lights and that is what I picked up on at the Maison Objet show. If you’ve followed me for any length of time you know that I can’t resist some unusual lighting and well…this ostrich feather floor lamp was just that. A vision from an eccentric artist in the U.K. that has a massive home and atelier of curiosities and if you are interested in his fascinating story check it out HERE. You won’t be disappointed!
I’ve lived here in Miami for most of my life now and it’s grown from a laid back tropical paradise to a world class much sought after modern city and I mostly saw LOTS of modern in design at this show. A spectacular chandelier from Camus Collection…

The refreshing Dunes and Duchess and it was a pleasure chatting with Stacy Kunstel and hearing about her big heart for this business baby of hers. This stuff is perfection for anyone looking for some cool island feel…
