Simple Summer Entertaining In The Garden

One of the best things about being a blogger is definitely the connections that you make with people who just get you! I've been blogging for about 9 years now and back when I started it was so different.

Yes there were other bloggers and creatives and now sadly many of the blog friends that I made early on are no longer blogging. We had to learn it all without some of the advantages that bloggers have today. There were no e-courses, tutorials or blog conventions. There were no Facebook groups (did Facebook even exist?), no Instagram and cell phones were not camera enabled and text messaging was around yet. Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat and all of the other platforms were maybe formed in some tech guy's mind, but not yet a thing. We had to rely on people just finding us mostly by word of mouth and connecting by comments.

We commented, waited for commenting to come back...and it was not unusual to have 35 or so comments on a good blog post! Things have changed and social media can take over your life...which for me is not an option. It's easy to get trapped in that, but there is a lot more to enjoy and I try and seize the day too. Hang around in the garden, by the pool or go to the beach. Do some cooking and entertaining... and of course create. These are some of my favorite things that take up my time.

Today I'm in the garden over at Rhoda of Southern Hospitality's blog sharing some creative summer entertaining ideas. I'm keeping it simple and sweet and mostly with flowers and a few other things. I hope that you visit me there...and please come back on Friday when I gather with some very special blog friends for a little bit of our peek at Fall!

I love those cute lil Asian lanterns! Where are they from? I also loved your idea for the water oil mason jar candles. Beautifully clever! I just had to buy those floating wicks and they last for hours!!!
