A Blissful Christmas In My White Timeless Kitchen

pink peonies and a christmas tree
Hello gorgeous peonies in my kitchen! I feel so fortunate to have found pink peonies this week to brighten up the space, as the weather has been less than stellar and a hefty pop of pink makes me smile. You can see from this shot that my kitchen is neutral and it’s looked like this for about 15 years now. Ahead of the pack, behind the pack…honestly I don’t know? I do know that if I was inspired to update my kitchen I wouldn’t change it a whole lot because it’s white with granite and fully functional.

Once again today I’m thrilled to be touring with the Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour, hosted by Decor Gold Designs and Randi Garrett Design and I hope that you take some time to visit all of my friends who are hosting this week. If you’ve come over from my sweet friend Lucy at Craftberry Bush, I welcome you in to my home!

If you are new here than I can tell you that my husband has been in home renovation and construction in our area with his own company for a long time. I’m so proud of his accomplishments, but when it comes to our own home it’s nothing grand and projects often get put on the back burner:-) So…here you have function, and the home is an older one but still looks fresh. The cabinets are mostly the original build that are solid wood and back when we added on and enlarged the space we simply changed out the doors and not the boxes. The kitchen was originally WHITE, just as it is today!

We chose our home when we moved here for a number of reasons…great neighborhood, beautiful street, good schools, waterfront lot, pool…but I think mostly for the fact that even for an old home it is open concept with the dining room seen like this from the kitchen.

Palm trees and pool aren’t a bad view even if it means washing dishes, right? This is real life that happens every day in my modest kitchen. Just a touch of Christmas with some Juniper Berries hanging over my vintage copper pan. Did you notice the pale green glass tiles on the backsplash? I told you that I love subtle…so maybe you didn’t see it. I love the look of glass tiles and again, it’s about 15 years old and holding up to both style and function nicely.

In my neutral home I often use metallics like GOLD and COPPER and this huge copper pot sometimes sits on the kitchen island filled with flowers. This show stopping arrangement is from a fall post and you can access all of my home posts and more by hovering your mouse over the CATEGORIES bar. Oh and yes…I have a chandelier in my kitchen and thinking of changing it out.

There is nothing like fresh flowers with the glow of the tree in the background. I know that you get it:-))

boxwood wreath with pink ribbon

A simple faux Boxwood wreath has been tied to the back of each chair and is seen from the kitchen into the dining room. I handpainted some thinned out silk ribbon in PINK to tie them on the chair backs.

Homegoods wine glasses

Stemware and glassware will always find a way into my home and tablescapes. I picked up the wine glasses recently at Homegoods and the gold plaid water glasses in the dollar bin at Target! My decor sensibilities are reflected on this blog that you don’t need to have a huge budget to create an elegant look.
