Velvet Pumpkins For Fall – Table Setting

I hope to inspire you to think outside the normal color choices for the fall season. I think that softly muted colors that are still found in nature but perhaps not thought of for fall decorating are perfectly different and can be perfectly your own choice.

Thank you to LoveFeastShop for providing these exquisite pumpkins to style with and if you are coming over from my friend Lory of Designthusiasm, welcome! The quality of these velvet pumpkins is incredible and it’s evident they are built to last and last. Here’s how I styled this table and where to begin perhaps when you set up an autumn tablescape in your home.

My usual modus operandi is to start with the color of the flowers that I find at the market that particular week. That’s definitely doable, but in this case I reversed the order and based the pumpkins that I selected on flowers that I THOUGHT I might find and luckily I did! Soft slate blues, denim, French style grey and muted pale taupes. Perfect accompaniment to the romantic French country modern decor of my home.

I love the pumpkin with the feather collar that I received from Love Feast Shop (Hot Skwash) as the feathers add a natural fall feel. I think that the plumed pumpkins would be splendid with a vintage birdcage in the vignette. Since I’m always moving things around and a table setting isn’t permanent I’m going to do just that on a mantel and I’ll bring that up in a future post!

The stems on the velvet pumpkins are real and fabric is generously gathered with a heavy weighted feel to even the tiniest of pumpkins. I can envision this colorway with plates and flatware that are highlighted with either silver or gold. In this setting I chose antique French blue ironstone and vintage gold flatware.

We built the dining table and I whitewashed it to look like liming wax that I shared in THIS post. The pale blue goblets are acrylic and look like fine stemware until you pick it up. I enjoy having acrylic stemware and don’t poo-poo plastic at all in the mix. Drinks in our home are often carried around out by the pool and glass….well, it’s not something that you want to step on outside.
A peek above at a few more pumpkins on the buffet in a dough bowl, and if you own one they make for a perfect table centerpiece display.

The combination of the DENIM, SLATE and GREY is so stunning and almost ethereal.

Here’s that dough bowl with the pumpkins inside and around on the buffet. Designing organic tablescapes is fun when you play and just place things with no particular rhyme or reason. In the background is the candelabra that I GOLD LEAFED with instructions for you to do something similar.

The Hot Skwash velvet pumpkins for fall that are carried by Love Feast Shop are authentic works of art, so they are each and every one signed on the stem in gold.
