How 3 Free Things Can Make A Room
Technically speaking this is not a room, but it is an outdoor “room” that I created by dragging the patio table into the yard and some chairs from inside the house to surround. These large chinoiserie orchid pots…
were free when I had the pleasure of helping a client clean out her mother’s estate awhile ago, and no one else saw the possibilities when we had everything for sale. Happy dance for me when I see things and find pieces that are in my vision to use for styling and would otherwise go to the neverland of being tossed out…
Since we have been enjoying the last weeks of outdoor eating and entertaining as the dreaded humidity of spring and summer is already creeping into South Florida I used those free pots as my muse. Simple with blue and white and the flowers are a compilation of leftovers from a couple of weeks of grocery store shopping.
I set the table with white ruffle placemats, vintage plates and wine glasses and blue toned drinking glasses…all creating a soft pastel blue and white theme.
Orchid pots are generally squat shaped as these are, so I trimmed the flowers short. I then cut up flower foam and soaked it for a few minutes and set the blooms inside. Really easy, just creating a nice shape with what I had…
Admittedly luck was on my side with these pots, but if you keep your eyes wide open you can find great pieces on sale…and we all love to shop!
A real room…the living room (more on that HERE), and the free pots were used to add a little bit of color here. I’m considering a rug for this room, but with the 3 dogs that love to leave me little presents I’m not quite sure I want to deal…
I love the pots. I never think to use floral foam in a shorter pot but the flowers look great that way. Beautiful!
You just can't go wrong with blue and white…it is always so lovely. This is quite beautiful.
I love these oriental looking blue flower pots. They make all plants and flowers look so elegant!
Love the pots!!

I not only love the blue and white, I really like how you created a beautiful trio on the table. It makes it much more balanced than having just one pot in the middle of the table. It looks so lovely and inviting!
WOW! What a truly lucky free find! I have several chinoisserie pots and ginger jars and bowls throughout my home, but none were free. I have found a few for reasonable prices at garage sales though. My decor is based on white and blue, all because of my love for these pieces. My accent colors change with whatever the season or available flowers dictate. You have taught me a lot Janet, and I thank you sincerely.
